Jay Buxton
About Jay
Born in Manchester, England in 1991, Jay began riding age 9 at his aunt’s local stables. Almost immediately Jay fell in love with the horses and his fascination with them grew and grew.
By the age of 10 it was clear that Jay had an outstanding ability to ride horses and was determined to forge a career with them.
At the age of 15, the following day after completing his GCSE’s Jay left Manchester and went to work for William Funnell in Dorking, Surrey. During this time Jay improved his riding skills; learnt how to work with young horses and how a professional yard was run.
After 18 months of invaluable experience Jay felt it was time to move on and spend some time abroad under the wing of Peter Bulthuis in Holland where he rode numerous winners including being placed 3rd in the Dutch National Z Final at Masstricht riding Onassis.
In April 2011 Jay decided to come home and set up base for the future at a nearby yard in Manchester.
Paige Buxton
About Paige
Born in London, England in 1992. Paige has owned horses since she was 8 years of age. She started out through the pony ranks and then had one horse, High Offley Arturos Catch whilst studying from 2008 to 2013.
Jay took over the ride of this horse in 2011 to allow Paige to finish her degree at King’s College University London. Following this, Paige went onto pursue a highly successful career in Corporate Finance at Deloitte. During this time, Paige assisting Jay where she could with running the business until she decided to work full-time for Strides Equestrian in 2015.
Paige has many roles within Strides but primarily works to ensure that everything at home and shows runs smoothly. She is known for her organisation and “always getting the job done.” Paige does ride when time permits and is very competitive in the ring.
